Under the Health and Safety Welfare at work 2005 act employers are required to carry out a VDU (Visual Display Unit)/DSE (Display Screen Equipment) assessment on each employee’s workstation where they spend 1 hour or more each day. This assessment and training must be carried out by someone with sufficient training in VDU/DSE assessments. They must also provide training on the safe work practices of that particular workstation which should include:
Work station layout/design- Screen, Keyboard and Mouse
Workstation location and desktop position
Correct working posture
Lighting, temperature and noise levels
